Problem

Multiple public-sector services had grown across separate portals and form flows, making it hard for citizens and staff to complete tasks quickly. Accessibility, privacy, and multi-stakeholder requirements added complexity and slowed delivery.

Approach

We partnered with Robu to streamline the core journeys and unify the front end. We introduced a lightweight design system, clarified API boundaries with the backend, and tackled accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), performance, and error handling first - so new features could ship safely and consistently.

Outcomes

  • Clearer citizen and staff journeys with fewer steps

  • Consistent UI through a reusable component library

  • Improved accessibility and keyboard/navigation coverage

  • More reliable releases via smaller increments and automated checks

  • Faster page loads and fewer support tickets on key flows

Partnership Goal

Enable Robu to deliver accessible, reliable digital services for social and health organisations - faster, with less risk, and a front end that’s easy to evolve.

From scattered flows to a single experience

We mapped the journeys that matter - then removed roadblocks.

Together with Robu, we aligned information architecture and simplified the most-used tasks into clearer, shorter paths. Forms were broken into digestible steps with strong validation and helpful states, so people could complete requests without guesswork.

The result is a calmer, more predictable experience across services.

Accessibility and reliability by default

Public services must work for everyone - every time.

We built against WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, improved focus management and screen-reader semantics, and tightened error feedback. Release risk dropped thanks to regression checks on critical paths and better observability, so issues could be found and fixed quickly.

Performance tuning kept pages responsive even under heavier loads.

A front end built to evolve

New features, same foundation.

We introduced a small, reusable component library and clarified API contracts with the backend. Feature flags and CI/CD made it possible to ship smaller increments and learn sooner, without disrupting live services used by citizens and staff.

Teams can now add or iterate on services without reinventing the UI.
